So recently Nathan's brother Richard bought a kite, its not just any kite, this one can lift people off the ground. It has a 13 ft span I think and came used at about 100 dollars. Anyway, on Sunday we went out to Nathans parents for dinner as usual and Richard had his kite out, the wind was blowing fairly hard and Richard had already been out with the kite once that day, the wind took the kite and picked him up and than dragged him across the field, I wish I could have gotten it on film it would have made this post way better. So when we got to the house Richard came out and we could see that he had a grass stain almost the length of him, looking at his face we couldn't help but laugh.
After dinner Richard, Nathan, Daniel and their dad went out to fly. This time they came prepaired. Nathan came sauntering out of the garage with a golf bag strap strung between his legs and over his shoulders in a makeshift harness, I am laughing just thinking about it and I regret regret regret I didn't have my camera, needless to say his proud walk to the field was sort of bowlegged.
They got to the field and Richard screwed one of those twisty dog chain ancors into the ground and than attatched Nathan to that with a piese of rope. Then commenced launch, Daniel through the kite into the wind and boy did it leap, the kite strings pulled tight and lifted Nathan about 2 ft before his rope snapped and whipped him in the BUTT, his fun was not over yet though as he was pulled across the field in great lumbering leaps until the kite fell and he collapsed into the ground rolling in pain from the whip to the butt. It was soooo funny!!
The best though is that they tried it again, this time they used webbing instead of rope and a car tow cable then held by Richard and Dad. This time at lift off Nathan went up as before but then the anchor pulled loose and and the force of the wind popped one of the kite strings. Alas, our fun was over, but boy was it funny. Stay tuned for the next episode, will Nathan accomplish lift off, will Richard be carried off to the moon or dragged down the road. The fun is just beginning.
